“My hope is to shine a light on incarcerated voices and a system of societal violence – and to educate audiences on how to help”

Another Wasted Life by Rhiannon Giddens

There are currently thousands of people behind bars in the US, convicted of crimes they did not commit. The 22 people featured in this video lost more than 500 years of their lives to wrongful incarceration.

This video was made in partnership with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to exonerate those convicted of crimes they did not commit, to prevent innocent people from being prosecuted and convicted, and to help those wrongfully convicted transition to freedom.

He and his co-defendant's 1998 convictions were based on mistaken witness identification. They learned in 2010 of another incarcerated person admitting to the crime and, with the help of the PA Innocence Project, were released with all charges dismissed in 2014.
